VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: The difference between uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage is a very good question. An uninsured motorist is one that has no insurance coverage at all. If you have purchased what we refer to as UM coverage on your insurance policy your own insurance company will provide coverage for that situation when an uninsured driver injured you. Underinsured motorist coverage is when the responsible driver who caused the accident has liability insurance but the limits that they purchased are insufficient to fully compensate you for your injuries. And that scenario again the UM coverage on your own insurance policy will step in and will provide compensation for you, over and above the limits of the responsible driver.
